Since 1965, Whitesboro has set aside the 3rd Saturday each October to honor local farmers and celebrate the annual Peanut Harvest. Each year, Whitesboro hosts some 30,000 visitors eager to enjoy a fun-filled family event featuring:
Live Entertainment
Over 300 Vendor Booths
Numerous Food Vendors
Parade
Car Show
Carnival
Kid Alley
Lots of fun for the whole family!
All of this excitement is FREE to the public (no gate charge) and proudly presented by the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce.
PARADE DETAILS
All entries must be received no later than FRIDAY OCTOBER 2 to be eligible to participate in the parade
This year's theme: "Peace, Love, & Peanuts: Celebrating 60 Groovy Years"
Parade lineup will begin at 7:30AM
Judging will begin at 9:00AM
Parade will begin at 10:00AM
All parade participants must enter Wilson St. from Bagin St. and check in at the check point located on Wilson St. (Look for PARADE LINEUP signs).
The parade travels west on Main Street beginning at Wilson St. and ending at Elm & Main St.
Contact information is required so the committee can contact you with your parade number.
AWARDS WILL BE PRESENTED TO:
1st Place Float: $200
2nd Place Float: $150
3rd Place Float: $100
Non-float Winner: $50
Mayor's Choice Award: $50
Heritage Award: $50
PARADE RULES & REGULATIONS
NO THROWING OR HANDING OUT CANDY/OBJECTS DURING THE PARADE! This includes, but is not limited to: candy, footballs, promo materials, fliers, etc.
No walking beside any and all motorized vehicles.
One adult walker for every five walking children under the age of 12 yrs.
All motorized vehicles must include a passenger. The passenger serves as a "safety spotter" for the driver. (excludes single passenger vehicles)
All gas-powered vehicles must be driven or operated by a licensed driver.
A minimum of one adult must ride on the float with children under the age of 12 years. The adult must see to it that the children abide by all rules.
Absolutely no sitting on the edge of floats, vehicles or any moving object. This includes any and all types of moving devices including, but not limited to : vehicles, wagons, fire trucks, etc. No dangling of legs or feet over the edge.
No exiting or entering parade vehicles once movement occurs. Every passenger must be in place by 10AM. No Exceptions!
All entries are allowed to participate at the discretion of the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce; this group reserves the right to refuse participation at any time before or during the parade.
These rules must be complied with at all times while on Peanut Festival Grounds*. Any/All violators may be removed from the parade lineup/participation and will not be allowed to participate in Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored parades in the future.
Rules for this parade are governed by the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce and adopted for the safety of parade participants and the Peanut Festival spectators.
*Peanut Festival Grounds are: Godwin Park, Trollinger Park, 100 Block East Main, 200 Block East Main, 300 Block East Main, 100 Block West Main, 200 Block West Main, 300 Block West Main and Wilson Street, Whitesboro, Texas
