Event Standard Ts and Cs

I understand and acknowledge that by my entry into the Madeira 2026 that I agree to abide by the Organiser’s Terms and Conditions of Entry

Identity

I confirm that I have entered this event in my own name and will be the one taking part in the event. I confirm that I will not give my bib number to anyone else and understand should anyone else be found to be participating under my bib number, myself and the participant will be banned from taking part in all future Rat Race events.

Vehicles

I understand that this event takes place in an area where vehicles may be present and moving in my vicinity. Therefore, I must give way to any vehicle requiring it - and follow any instructions given to me during the event.

Nature of Challenge, Indemnity and Mandatory Kit

I acknowledge that I am undertaking an endurance challenge which takes place in a sometimes remote environment. I understand that this environment contains objective dangers and risks (such as, but not limited to: Weather, uneven terrain, dangers posed by wildlife). I accept that there is also objective danger posed by the proximity of traffic on roads whilst running and of water hazards whilst kayaking. I accept that my taking part in this event gives rise to a risk of serious injury or death. I understand and voluntarily accept those risks. I agree to hold the organizers, its agents, staff and contractors harmless and indemnify them against such risks, which I knowingly undertake by my participation in this event. I understand that I must be physically fit enough to undertake this challenge and I agree to adhere to the mandatory kit list of this event at all times. I will follow all safety crew and/ or event official instructions at all time.

Environmental Code

I understand that I should take all litter with me and that under all circumstances I should abide by the Rat Race ‘Leave no trace’ policy.

Security of Belongings

I agree to take the following precautions in respect of my belongings at all times as part of this event. I will take responsibility of my own belongings at all times while on the event. I agree to indemnify the organisers against any loss, theft, damage or otherwise resulting to my equipment and kit while embarked on the event.

Photography and Film

I understand that, under the Event Terms and Conditions, I have consented to my likeness being used for the transmission of film and/ or photography by the organisers and/ or their agents and that I have agreed that any film and/ or photography obtained by me or by my associates during the event will be solely for personal use.

Health & Welfare

I will inform the Event Director and Medical team of any illness that has occurred within 72 hours of the event start date before my arrival. This includes symptoms such as diarrhoea, vomiting, high fever and skin rashes. This is to ensure that we can adequately care for you during the trip and put procedures in place that the team deem necessary to contain potential infection of the group.
