Health and Wellness Policy

These guidelines have been created to comply with Illinois guidelines for safeguarding the health of ALL children in the care of Precious Lambs Preschool. This policy will help prevent children from contracting both viral and bacterial infections. To differentiate, a viral infection is one that does not require medicine and a bacterial infection is one that does require medication, but both are contagious.

The symptoms that we ask you to keep your child home for include but are not limited to:

Symptom

May return when

Temperature of 100.3 F / 37.8 C or higher (orally) or 99 F / 37.2 C or higher (under the arm or inside ear)

May return to preschool after being symptom free for at least 48 hours, without using fever reducing medication

Runny nose

May return to preschool after being symptom free for at least 24 hours; if nasal discharge is clear, student may return after 24 hours regardless

Cough, Sore throat, Difficulty breathing or wheezing, Sinus congestion

May return to preschool after being symptom free for at least 48 hours

Unexplained loss of appetite, fatigue, irritability, or headache Unexplained fatigue, aches, or cold/flu-like symptoms Eye infections (such as Pink Eye) Unexplained rashes or any rash that is not confirmed by doctor to be non-contagious Known or suspected communicable diseases (measles, chicken pox, pink eye, hand foot and mouth, etc.) Ear infection Nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea in the last 48 hours

May return either (1) after being symptom free for at least 48 hours; or (2) after being on an antibiotic for 24 hours

Children who have COVID

May return after being symptom free for 72 hours, including cough, without the use of fever reducing medication

Each child will be screened at their arrival for the day. Children who exhibit obvious signs of illness will not be admitted.
