Jamii is inviting community members of all ages to take part in PASI, a large-scale outdoor photo exhibition along The Esplanade promenade. This community-led project takes place in 2026, a year when the world’s attention turns to international football, and reflects Toronto’s theme, The World in a City.
PASI, meaning “a soccer pass” in Swahili, brings together people, cultures, and generations through a shared love of the game. The exhibition will feature a minimum of 48 community members representing countries participating in the 2026 international football tournament, highlighting how global communities live side by side in Toronto.
Jamii is looking for community members who were born in one of the countries participating in the 2026 tournament and would like to be part of this collective, large-scale photo exhibition.
THE PROJECT
Selected participants will be photographed as part of a visual chain of portraits installed between two of Toronto’s most iconic landmarks, the Distillery District and St. Lawrence Market.
Each participant will symbolically “pass” a soccer ball from one portrait to the next, creating a continuous gesture of connection, movement, and unity across cultures.
The final exhibition will include 48 large-scale outdoor portraits (3 ft x 4 ft) displayed along The Esplanade promenade. The project will be animated with live performances, daily stiltwalker appearances, and cultural moments, welcoming both local residents and visitors from May to July 2026.
