Canine Adoption Process
Submit an Adoption Application
Complete the Adoption Application Form and select your preferred date for a “Meet & Greet” with the pet.
Application Review & Scheduling
Once your application has been reviewed, a Board Member will contact you within one week to confirm and schedule your “Meet & Greet.”
Approval, Deposit & Trial Period
If your application is approved, you may take the pet home for a five-day trial (probation) period. A deposit is required at this stage.
Please note: For adoptions completed during an adoption event, no deposit is required; however, full payment must be made before taking the pet home.
Post-Trial Confirmation
After the five-day trial period, an Adoption Coordinator will contact you. If you decide to proceed with the adoption, simply confirm your decision.
Final Payment & Ownership Transfer
Upon confirmation, the remaining adoption fee must be paid. Once payment is received, a Director will update ownership records and provide the pet’s medical records along with an official adoption confirmation letter.
Important Notice
All payments are strictly non-refundable under any circumstances. Please ensure you are fully committed before submitting your application and payment.
Non-Response / Recovery Policy
If we are unable to contact you after the trial period, or if you fail to respond, the Society reserves the right to reclaim the pet. In such cases, the pet’s microchip status may be updated to “lost or stolen.” This status will restrict any future ownership transfer without the Society’s authorization.

All personal information collected by Maplelatte Animal Shelter Society is used solely for the purposes stated at the time of collection or for uses consistent with those purposes. Your information will not be shared with any third parties.
